15 Top Water Heater Knob Wont Turn To Off

Water heater knob wont turn to off. The only problem with this is that the knob does not seem to turn all the way it stops half way through to pilot. E50r6 45 100 a couple nights ago the hot water went out. What else can i do to make the knob to turn.
